Traffic Department announces significant upgrades in the Vehicle Registration System in St. Kitts and Nevis

Following the closure of the Inland Revenue Department in both St. Kitts and Nevis on vehicle processing and Driver’s license transactions on Monday 7th October, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has announced significant upgrades to the Vehicle Registration System within the Traffic Department. The purpose of the closure was to facilitate a system upgrade.

Digital Vehicle Inspection Certification: Vehicle inspection agencies log inspections directly into the Traffic Department’s system, generating an automatic inspection certificate.  This data is shared with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD), allowing vehicle owners to provide their registration number for licensing. Customers can also receive inspection results via email.

Seamless Insurance Updates: Local insurance companies partner with the Traffic Department to update vehicle insurance data in real-time, eliminating the need for physical certificate presentation.

Simplified Online Vehicle Licensing: The system automatically provides insurance and inspection data, eliminating the need for document uploads for licensing applications. This makes the online licensing process faster and more seamless.

The Traffic Department trusts that the upgrades will increase efficiency with vehicle transactions, while enhancing integrity. The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force extends gratitude to inspection agencies, insurance companies, and the Inland Revenue Department for their cooperation. They remain committed to leveraging technology to improve public services and ensure a seamless experience for all vehicle owners.
