Traffic Dept. conducts vehicular checkpoint operation in St. Kitts, resulting in over 70 tickets issued
The Police Force’s Traffic Department conducted a series of Vehicular Checkpoints (VCP) on January 31st between 5:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., at key locations in St. Kitts, including Southwell Way, Frigate Bay, and Needsmust.
This exercise resulted in the issuance of seventy-three (73) traffic tickets for various offences. It was aimed at enhancing road safety by addressing violations that contribute to accidents and unsafe driving conditions.
Among the offences recorded were: Exceeding the speed limit – 22 tickets, Driving at night with only one lighted headlamp – 23 tickets, Driving with unauthorized lights – 11 tickets, Failing to produce a driver’s license immediately – 3 tickets, Driving with dark tinted windscreens – 2 tickets, Driving with dark tinted windows – 3 tickets, No light to illuminate rear number plate – 4 tickets and Driving without a front identification mark – 5 tickets.
The police said on social media “the Traffic Department will continue its proactive enforcement efforts to deter reckless driving and improve compliance with the nation’s traffic regulations.”
