The Traffic Department of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is cracking down on unsafe driving with a series of recent convictions in the Basseterre Magistrate’s Court.

Several Motorists faced stiff fines and even prison time for breaking the Vehicles and Road Traffic Act.

Issam Ferchichi of Frigate Bay was fined $1000 or one month in jail for driving without due care and attention.

Odaine Curtis Wright of Lodge Project received two months imprisonment for driving without insurance, plus six months concurrent for obstruction. He was also cautioned for driving without a valid license and failing to follow traffic directions.

Anton Dextrose Ward of Nevis Street was fined $1000 on the spot for driving without insurance, along with $500 each for not wearing a seatbelt, driving without a valid license and giving a false name. He was also cautioned for driving with only one headlamp.

Paul Whyte of Lodge Village was fined $500 on the spot for speeding.

Police say these penalties highlight the serious consequences of reckless driving and remind all motorists that road safety is everyone’s responsibility. Authorities have pledged to maintain a strict, zero-tolerance stance on unlawful driving across the Federation.
