Tropical Storm Erin to pass north of Leewards over weekend
The St. Kitts Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of Tropical Storm (TS) Erin in the Atlantic Ocean.
Erin formed yesterday close to the Cabo Verde islands just off the coast of Africa. The storm is expected to strengthen into a hurricane as it moves generally to the west across the Atlantic Ocean towards the Caribbean.
The early projections indicate that the eventual eye should pass to the north of the Leeward Islands by this weekend. As such, the public is encouraged to closely monitor the progress of Erin.
Additionally, Minister of Disaster here on Nevis, Hon. Spencer Brand also issued a statement, advising resident to prepare. He stated “I am urging all Nevisians to pay close attention to official updates on Tropical Storm Erin and to take all necessary precautions as we continue to monitor the development of this weather system.”
He went on to say please follow the guidance of our local authorities, secure your homes, and ensure that you have all essential food and emergency supplies on hand.”
