Work has begun on the site of where a State-of-the-art Bureau of Standards Laboratory will be constructed on Nevis at Pinney’s Industrial Site, funded through humanitarian assistance from the United States government. The project, valued at approximately US$2.5 million, was confirmed through a diplomatic note dated December 15^th, 2025, and is supported by the U.S. Southern Command’s Civil Military Operations Directorate.

Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Mark Brantley gave information about its expected impact:

Oversight of the project will be handled by the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command. Texol Integration Group, a U.S.-based contractor in Puerto Rico, is serving as the prime contractor, with Affluent Homes Limited, a Nevis-based company will be engaged as a subcontractor. Credit was given to the Hon. Spencer Brand and his ministry for coordinating the initiative.
