Uroy Harris of Newton Ground has been sentenced for causing the death of 89-year-old Olivia Francis by careless driving.

The sentence was handed down on Tuesday, June 24^th, 2025 at the High Court in Basseterre by His Lordship Justice Iain Morley KC. The charge followed a fatal traffic accident that occurred on November 8^th, 2018 in Newton Ground.

Harris, who pleaded guilty on January 30^th, 2025, received a six-month prison sentence, which has been suspended for two years. He has also been disqualified from driving for one year, effective immediately.

 Additionally, the court issued a compensation order of $65,000 EC dollars to be paid to the family of the deceased in monthly installments of $1800 starting Friday, July 25^th, 2025. Failure to comply will result in 12 months imprisonment, after which payments must resume.

A status review is set for December 12^th, 2025.
