Vat reduction: Shelf Prices adjusted to show 13% VAT as of February 17th

On January 1st, 2025, the Vat Reduction from 17% to 13% went into effect. This meant that all vat registered businesses were required to charge VAT (Value Added Tax) at a rate of 13% on the delivery of all goods and services.

As per the VAT Act, all shelf prices must be VAT-inclusive. Therefore, all VAT-registered businesses were given some time to adjust their prices.

The Inland Revenue Department of St. Kitts and Nevis issued a release in late January that gave taxpayers until Monday February 17th, 2025 to update their shelf prices.

With the arrival of the February 17th deadline, it means that now shelf prices in all VAT-registered businesses must now reflect the new change of 13% until June.

To report any suspicious activity such as noncompliance, consumers are to reach out to the Consumer Affairs Department at 467-1550 in St. Kitts, or on Nevis at 469-5521.
