As part of an ongoing regional initiative to enhance environment sustainability, representatives from Unite Caribbean recently visited Nevis for a strategic review of local waste management operations.
The representatives, Director of Wastewater in Trinidad, Mr. Ronald Roach, and Development Advisor in Barbados, Ms. Emma Holden-Maillard, paid a courtesy call to the Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Ms. Latoya Jeffers, following a visit to the Nevis Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) Landfill and Recycling Facility.
The delegation was joined by representatives from the St. Kitts Waste Management Corporation, reflecting a wide effort in the federation, to improve solid waste practices through regional cooperation.
This engagement follows a series of stakeholder consultations aimed at identifying the strengths and gaps in current waste management systems. Discussions centered on sustainable strategies, regional partnerships and pressing waste related challenges in the federation.
A comprehensive report detailing the findings from the consultation and field assessments is scheduled for release by the second quarter of 2026.
Further, Unite Caribbean is international development organization that finds solutions for the Caribbean region’s challenges.
