That was Federal and Local Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources – the Hon. Alexis Jeffers while present at a meeting to lay out the 2021 Agenda for the Department of Agriculture, on Nevis.
On March 24th 2020, Prime Minister – Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris announced that a ten million dollar stimulus package was designated for the agricultural sector and waived the water payments of farmers for six months, as a measure to boost agricultural production and food security.
This was done in response to the closure of the Federation’s borders, after the first two cases of COVID-19 were confirmed.
