Given that U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on Tuesday, gave final approval to Pfizer’s kid-sized COVID-19 shot for children ages 5 to 11, when will children within that age group be administered the vaccine?
This question was posed to Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Hazel Laws, who provided this response:
Dr. Hazel Laws.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine for children from ages 5 to 11 from October 29th. SKN, upon receiving the first batch of Pfizer vaccines on Thursday, August 12th, began administering the vaccine to children between the ages of 12 to 17 years. Thus far 12.3% of children between the aforementioned age group have received their first dose.
