World Obesity Day – A Series of Activities by the Nevis HPU

 

The voice of Senior Health Educator at the Nevis Health Promotion Unit (HPU), Shevanee Nisbett, speaking about World Obesity Day during Wednesday’s On the Mark program. World Obesity Day will be celebrated on March 4th where several activities will take place.

 

Dubbed a “Fun Run in the Sun”, the HPU will host its annual relay on March 7th at 2pm, teams must be registered by Friday, February 21st:

 

Additionally, Friday February 28th, will be “Park and Walk”, where persons are encouraged to park their vehicles at the Villa grounds in Charlestown, and walk into town to get to work or do their errands.

 

There will be a “Step Quest”, from March 3rd to March 7th. The public is encouraged to take 2000 steps daily, between the hours of 8:00a.m. and 4:00p.m., tracking it on a mobile device.

 

Participants will have the chance to win prizes by scanning the provided QR code. HPU personnel will be present between 7:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. to provide the QR code. Persons can also obtain the code by visiting the HPU on Jews Street.
