The Nevis Health Promotion Unit (HPU) continues its annual activities in recognition of World Obesity Day where they aim to promote activities or habits that prevent the non-communicable disease of Obesity amongst others.
Activities began on Friday February 28th, where individuals were encouraged to park their vehicles at the Villa Grounds and walk into Charlestown for work or conduct their business.
On Monday March 3rd, the exercises continued with a Step Quest. Persons were asked to take 2,000 steps daily until Friday March 7th, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Some tips given to make the quota are: parking and walking, walking during breaks and strolling during lunch.
Persons must submit proof every day of completion by screenshotting the data from an app or smart device by 4:00 p.m. daily. This will be done through a provided QR code. Participants will have the chance to win various prizes.
Furthermore, the events will climax on Friday, March 7th, with a “Fun Run in the Sun” event, which is a relay race beginning at Best Buy Supermarket and ending at the Simeon Daniel Statue in Charlestown.
The Nevis HPU urges all to “Get up and step into a healthier you!”
