On Tuesday February 11th, twenty-three (23) performing arts students, as well as three (3) teachers, from the Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, located in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, arrived in Basseterre, St. Kitts.
They are led by High Commissioner of St. Kitts and Nevis (SKN) to London, His Excellency, Dr. Kevin M. Isaac, and SKN National, a former High Sheriff of Hertfordshire, Mr. Lionel Wallace.
The purpose of the visit is a seven (7) day cultural collaboration, being facilitated by the Departments of Education in St. Kitts and Nevis. The students will visit schools across the two islands, conducting performing arts workshops, and performances, including the British historical drama, “The Roses of Eyam”.
Foreign Minister, Dr. Denzil Douglas expressed, “We welcome this collaboration, precisely because it leans into our cultural diplomacy agenda, and because it is an opportunity for our young, talented children to learn from their peers, to interact with them and build friendships.”
He further asserted that it was a chance for capacity building and exposure for local creative artistes.
The Tring Park School is a boarding and day school, for youths aged 7 to 19 years old, where they receive both extensive academic studies, and training in the area of Performing Arts. Famous alumni at the school include, “Disney’s Cinderella” and “Mama Mia! Here We Go Again” actress, Lily James.
