2nd quake in four days occurs near SKN

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.6 occurred near St. Kitts and Nevis on Saturday Mar. 16th, the second in four days.

 

 

 

It follows a 4.6 magnitude quake on Tuesday afternoon March 12th that rocked the BVI, St. Kitts-Nevis, Anguilla and St. Martin.

 

 

 

The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC) said it struck at 10:30am Eastern Caribbean time, at latitude 17.83 degrees North, longitude 62.09 degrees West, at a depth of 1 km.

 

 

 

The distance and direction to the epicenter were 92 km, NE of Basseterre, St. Kitts. Additionally, it occurred just 84 km NNW of Saint John’s, Antigua and Barbuda and 116 km N of Brades, Montserrat.
