The Minister was informing the Nevisian public about the current status of the July 2020 CXC Examinations.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CXC (Caribbean Examinations Council) adopted a modified approach to grading, which was to combine multiple choice and School Based Assessments (SBAs) or alternative to SBAs.
In the past, CXC did about 30 percent moderation, but it jumped to 100 percent in 2020 for all subjects. That means the teachers’ scores were not final.
Following the exams, educators from across the region called on CXC to investigate the alarming results for the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Examinations that appear to be dashing students’ hopes for prestigious scholarships, according to nationnews.com.
