‘Herd immunity’, also known as ‘population immunity’ according to the World Health Organisation is the indirect protection from an infectious disease that happens when a population is immune either through vaccination or immunity developed through previous infection.
According to the New York Times, scientists recommend the 70 percent of the total population of a country be vaccinated for the country to achieve herd immunity from the COVID-19 virus.
