Kidney failure also called End-stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) or End-stage Renal Disease (ESRD) is the fifth and last stage of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD).
Kidney failure cannot be reversed and is life-threatening if left untreated.
However, Dialysis or a Kidney Transplant can help a person live for many more years.
Dialysis is a treatment to clean your blood when your kidneys are not able to.
It can only do 10-15% of what a normal kidney does, according to kidneyfund.org.
