Ten-year-old Faith Francis of the Newton Ground Primary School, is the first girl to be awarded the Girl of Excellence Award from the St. Kitts Department of Gender Affairs, as part of the celebrations of International Day of the Girl Child.

She received her award on Monday, October 10^th, 2022.

Gender Affairs Officer, Ms. Kasandra Bedford gave more details on the day’s observance:

International Day of the Girl Child is presently in its 10th year.

18 schools across St. Kitts will see a girl from each institution receiving an award. Presentation of the awards will continue until Monday, October 17^th, 2022.
