Prime Minister, Dr. Terrance Drew, speaking during a radio program in St. Kitts on Wednesday (Mar. 20th).
Earlier in March, a policy on the entire free movement of Caricom (Caribbean Community) nationals was put forward by Caricom’s heads of Government at a meeting, with it slated to be in place by March 31st. A follow-up meeting was held on Mar. 15th but the final result of that forum has not been disseminated to the public.
Under the current Caricom Single Market and Economy (CSME), Caricom nationals can obtain a six-month stay in a Caricom country, for example in SKN.
This allows for the free movement of goods, skills, labour and services in all CARICOM member states with the exception of The Bahamas, Montserrat, and Haiti without the need to obtain a work permit. PM Drew however, said the Federation continues to benefit from Caricom.
