Behavior Health and Wellness Center holds Week of Activities

The latest edition of the “Let’s Talk” program featured Supervisor and Counsellor at the Behavior Health and Wellness Center, Mr. McMillan Cuffy, who highlighted the week of activities organized by the center to recognize World Mental Health Day and Month.

 

In the week so far, there has been a church service, a recreational and sports day for clientele, a screen day focusing on both physical and psychological testing as well as an award ceremony. The award ceremony highlighted three women who have been pioneers of mental health on Nevis. These honorees were Joyah Walters, Irene Clarke and Meredith Amory-Fields. Thursday 10th October, 2024 is World Mental Health Day and everyone is encouraged to wear something green. The theme for the day is: “It’s Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace” and is also the focus of a closed symposium that will be held on the same day. Presentations will be heard on “Micro-aggressions in the Work Place”, “Work-Life Balance”, and the main feature, a presentation by Human Resources focusing on employee assistance. Additionally, Mr. Cuffy made this statement when asked about if there was an increase in persons who require mental health care:

 

 

Saturday (October 12th), a walk themed: ‘Let’s get Physical’ will take place to celebrate the annual awareness from the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park at 5:45am. Those participating is asked to wear something green in recognition of Mental Health.
