The Public Works Department on Nevis has been working on a road project in the vicinity of Republic Bank causing a temporary road closure, prompting drivers entering Charlestown to access other routes.
The VON Newsline spoke to Director of the Public Works Department, Jevon Williams who provided some details on the Project:
Mr. Williams revealed that the top section of the current culvert; a tunnel structure that allows a stream to flow through or acts as a drain under the road, had been badly deteriorated and was in need of reconstruction.
He also mentioned a few grills that were found in the corners of the road way and provided a completion date which has been extended from the original date of Monday, October 28th:
