Children discovering St. Kitts and Nevis during a Foreign Reading Festival

A number of youths of the Republic of China (Taiwan) had the opportunity to learn more about St. Kitts and Nevis during the Taiwan Reading Festival 2024, which was held from December 7th to 8th, under the theme: “Reading Creates the Future”.

The federation participated in the festival for the third time in a row. Children up to 12 years of age had the chance to read books to the public, colour and make crafts to learn about the flag of St. Kitts and Nevis. The children also received memorabilia such as colouring books, wristbands, fans and flags. Also on display were books written by citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis.

St. Kitts and Nevis’ Ambassador to Taiwan, His Excellency Donya L. Francis, stated: “These simple yet precious moments of exposure to another country can build global citizens”. He continued: “It is heartwarming to see the children who represent the future of Taiwan learn more about the federation and the international community as they read and engage with our volunteers and embassy staff”.

The diplomatic relationship between St. Kitts-Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan) has been in existence for just over 40 years and both countries continuously collaborate on many projects and initiatives.

Additionally, the St. Kitts and Nevis Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has announced the Taiwan MOFA Scholarships for the Academic Year 2024-2025 and the 2025 Taiwan ICDF Scholarships for studies at the levels of Master’s and PhDs.
