Foreign Minister Douglas meets with Envoy of the United Arab Emirates

On Monday February 24th, 2025, a diplomatic engagement occurred between Foreign Minister, the Right. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, and Mr. Omar Shehadeh, Envoy of the Minster of Foreign Affairs, for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to the Caribbean and Pacific States.

 

Matters on agriculture, trade and investment were discussed, as well as potential strategies to collaborate multilaterally on sustainable development.

 

This is significant as the UAE and the Republic of Senegal are the co – hosts of the 2026 United Nations Water Conference that will focus on actions to achieve sustainable development goal 6 of clean water and sanitation.

 

Therefore, “Saint Kitts and Nevis looks forward to strengthening its partnership with the UAE in pursuit of shared goals under the Sustainable Island State Agenda, fostering resilience and sustainable progress,” said a press release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

The United Arab Emirates is a close diplomatic ally of the federation and in several ways have supported the sustainable development goals of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
