Two St. Kitts-Nevis nationals to undergo technical training in Germany

Diplomatic ties between St. Kitts and Nevis and Germany are bearing results as two nationals of the federation prepare to undergo training in the European country for a total of three years.

Mr. Dillon Simmonds and Mr. Rodison Jeffers, both 20 years of age, are set to depart this month for Germany where they will embark on an intensive dual vocational training programme in electronics engineering.

Both trainees have signed employment contracts with German companies in Sylt and Niebüll and will pursue the ‘Bachelor Professional’ qualification as electronics technicians for energy and building technology. Under Germany’s dual education system, they will receive paid on-the-job training with advanced technical coursework at the Vocational School of the District of Nordfriesland.

The young men were chosen following a process facilitated by the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) and the Advanced Vocational Educational Centre (AVEC). They have undergone training in the German Language as well as workshops to help prepare them for the experience. According to a statement from the federal government “The placement of both Simmonds and Jeffers marks the first cohort in what is intended to be a sustainable, long-term partnership, designed not only to build capacity in priority technical areas but to expand cultural exchange and career pathways for Kittitian and Nevisian youth.”
