55th Memorial Service of the 1970 MV Christena Disaster held on Friday
August 1st, 2025, marked 55 years since the tragic sinking of the MV Christena, a dark moment in the history of the federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. This is the voice of Pastor Eversley Pemberton, the officiant of the memorial service, held on the grounds of the Museum of Nevis History.
The service was attended by many dignitaries including Deputy Governor General, Her Honour, Mrs. Hyleeta Liburd, His Lordship, the Hon. Justice Patrick Thompson Jr., Premier of Nevis, Hon Mark Brantley, as well as members of the general public.
The solemn ceremony featured refrains and other music, prayer, Holy Scripture, and of course the recognition of the names of those who survived the disaster.
