Nevis Honours 11 Citizens at 42nd Independence Celebration

During the ceremonial parade on Nevis marking the 42nd celebration of Independence eleven citizens were presented with the  for their contributions to the island’s progress and community life.

 

In business, Ms. Sherry Gajor was celebrated for her drive in entrepreneurship. Mr. Cleveton Floyd Harris and Mr. Curtis Morton (in absentia) were commended for their longstanding commitment to community service.

 

Mr. James Williams and Mr. Maurice Burke were honoured for their craftsmanship in construction, helping shape Nevis’ physical and economic landscape.

 

In education, Mrs. Lornette Webbe and Mrs. Nolla Reid were recognised for shaping many youths for their work in education.

 

In healthcare the honouree is Ms. Roxane Brookes who has made a lasting impact through her innovation and care for her patients.

 

The creative arts were represented by Mrs. Deborah Tyrell, recognised for her trailblazing work in fashion design, and Ms. Sandra Maynard, whose work in social services has been transformative.

 

The Tourism standout, Ms. Sarah-Ann Daniel was highlighted for her lasting contribution to Nevisian hospitality.

 

These awardees were praised by the Nevis Island Administration as patriots whose work reflects the 2025 Independence theme: “Perpetual Progress – a Sustainable Future in View.”
