St. Kitts’ Minister of Education issues statement following vandalism of newly-renamed secondary school

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education-St. Kitts, the Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, has issued a statement on the defacement at the newly-renamed Dr. Denzil Llewellyn Douglas Secondary School (formerly Saddlers Secondary School).

In videos and pictures, graffiti was written, referencing the principal of the school.

In the statement posted by the St. Kitts’ Ministry of Education’s Education Media Unit (EMU) on social media, Dr. Hanley said “the Dr. Denzil Llewellyn Douglas Secondary School’s property was defaced and the principal’s name maligned. The Ministry of Education condemns this malicious and disrespectful act and will work with the police to find the perpetrator(s).”

The Minister of Education added “the Ministry will not tolerate any disrespect towards our staff.”

“The Ministry will continue to give its full support to the school administrators as they carry out the challenging task of school management”, Dr. Hanley stated.
