Police Investigating latest Robbery in Newtown, St. Kitts

On November 1st, 2025, a robbery incident took place during early hours in the area of Newtown, St. Kitts.

 

According to a police press release, Ronnie Barriteau of Bird Rock, St. Kitts, told authorities that “while in the vicinity of George and Douglas Streets between 5 AM and 6 AM, a masked male armed with a firearm approached him and demanded his valuables. Mr. Barriteau reported that he complied with the robber’s demands, after which the suspect fled the area on foot.”

 

The Criminal Investigation Department assisted by the Special Services Unit following further inquiries has taken one male into custody to assist with the investigation.  Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Basseterre Police Station or call Crime Stoppers at 707.

 

This is the latest robbery following a string of 11 reported robberies for the period of June to October 2025.

 

Meantime – Police have dispelled rumours of a shooting incident that happened on Monday, November 3rd, 2025. Allegedly, a confrontation between authorities and an individual occurred where a police weapon was taken and subsequently driven off with.

 

 The VON NEWSLINE spoke with a police spokesperson who shared “There were no reports of such an incident”.
