Nevis Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) has announced the launch of a Vehicle Disposal Amnesty Programme. It forms part of the ongoing Scrap Metal Initiative and allows owners of derelict, abandoned, or unlicensed vehicles to voluntarily dispose of them without penalty during the designated amnesty period.
The main purpose of the amnesty supports the Scrap Metal Programme by promoting safe, legal, and environmentally responsible removal of unroadworthy vehicles.
Vehicles no longer in use, unregistered, or in breach of roadworthiness standards are eligible. Amnesty Period will be from November 10th 2025 to January 31st 2026. All eligible vehicles must be delivered to the landfill.
NSWMA said in a notice “mechanic shops and garages are urged to search their storage areas for derelict or abandoned vehicles that may qualify for disposal under this amnesty.”
