The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of St. Kitts and Nevis has expressed grave concern over recent developments in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, calling on all parties involved to exercise restraint and work toward de-escalating tensions.
In a statement issued on January 6th, the Ministry said it is closely monitoring the evolving situation in Venezuela and neighbouring states, while reaffirming its concern for the safety and well-being of the Venezuelan people.
The Ministry also expressed regret over the loss of life associated with recent events, including the extraction of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife from their residence in Caracas.
St. Kitts and Nevis has reiterated its call for peace, respect for the rule of law, and adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter, including the protection of fundamental human rights.
Additionally, in his capacity as Chair of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations, the Minister of Foreign Affairs has indicated his readiness to coordinate collective diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the situation.
