Once commissioned, the MRI facility is expected to reduce costly overseas referrals, shorten diagnostic wait times, and strengthen early detection of conditions such as cancer, neurological disorders, and musculoskeletal injuries, expanding access to advanced diagnostic care across the twin-island nation.

Meantime – The Ministry of Health – Saint Kitts and Nevis has reported a significant decline in teenage births, signaling encouraging progress for the nation. After 42 births were recorded in both 2023 and 2024, the figure fell sharply to 23 in 2025.

Health officials note that reducing teenage pregnancy lowers the risk of medical complications and premature births, while easing the financial and emotional strain often faced by young parents. Fewer teenage pregnancies also mean more young women remain in school, pursue career opportunities, and strengthen their long-term economic stability.

The Ministry attributes the downward trend to sustained education initiatives, community support, and open dialogue.
