During a ceremony on Tuesday February 24th, the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis officially commissioned a new two-million-gallon-per-day desalination plant in Basseterre, marking a major step toward strengthening national water security and climate resilience.

Located at the C.A. Paul Southwell Industrial Site, the facility utilizes advanced reverse osmosis technology to convert seawater into high-quality potable water. Fully integrated into the national system, the plant was designed to supply Basseterre and surrounding communities, providing reliable access to nearly 70 percent of the population.
