The St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards has achieved ISO 9001 certification, marking a major milestone in its commitment to quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

The internationally recognised certification confirms that the Bureau now operates under a clearly defined Quality Management System, designed to ensure consistent service delivery, effective risk management, and stronger customer confidence.

Officials say the certification covers the Bureau’s administrative, technical, regularity and standards development functions, bringing its overall operations in line with global best practices.

The Bureau also noted that its Air Quality, Microbiology, and Chemistry laboratories remain ISO/IEC 17025 accredited, confirming their technical competence and the reliability of their testing services.

Director Stuart LaPlace described the achievement as a defining moment for the institution, saying it reflects the Bureau’s commitment to excellence, transparency, and internationally recognised standards.

The certification is expected to strengthen public trust, support trade, and reinforce consumer health and safety protections across the Federation.
