Is Chikungunya on its way back to SKN?

That was Nevis’ Minister of Health, the Hon. Jahnel Nisbett. In April, the Federal Ministry of Health issued a press release about the increased risk of virus in the region.

Chikungunya is a viral disease transmitted by the Aedes Aegypti Mosquito: the same mosquito responsible for the Dengue Fever and Zika Virus. Symptoms include: fever, severe joint pain, headache, muscle pain and rash. Health officials in SKN confirmed that currently there is no local transmission. Minister Nisbett explained that if spraying is needed it will be done.
