The Department of Gender Affairs on Nevis is encouraging women to attend its upcoming seminar dubbed: “Own Your Future: Women, Wealth and Homeownership,” scheduled for May 11th, 2026, at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m.
The VON Newsline spoke to Gender Officer, Verna Grante who shared the reason for creating this free workshop for women 40 years and over:
Topics will include insurance protection, savings and investments, loans and credit awareness, and maximizing retirement income. The initiative forms part of the Department’s broader effort under the National Gender Equality Policy and Action Plan to improve women’s access to financial security and asset ownership.
Participants will also engage with professionals in architecture, land and housing, engineering, finance and legal aid, through an “expert hub” designed to connect theory with practical guidance on the topics presented. Grante shared the intended outcome of the activity:
