Saint Kitts and Nevis is preparing to expand its diplomatic reach in Asia with the planned opening of a High Commission in Singapore, a move that would make it the first Caribbean nation to establish such a mission there.
During a recent media appearance, Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas revealed that the federation has received formal agreement from the Singaporean government and is expected to officially launch the diplomatic facility “very shortly”:
The announcement comes shortly after Saint Kitts and Nevis opened its High Commission in India, becoming the first OECS member state to establish a permanent diplomatic presence there.
Additionally, Dr. Douglas highlighted India’s growing role in technology, tourism investment and economic development, adding that both missions in India and Singapore will be headed by citizens of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
