The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis is preparing to launch the Diaspora Heritage Emergence Programme (DHEP) 2026, an initiative aimed at reconnecting young nationals and descendants living overseas with their cultural roots and national identity.
The week-long programme, scheduled for July 18th to July 25th, will bring participants aged 18 to 21 to both St. Kitts and Nevis for an immersive educational and cultural experience.
Diaspora Ambassador of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Her Excellency, Dr. Christine Walwyn shared that the initiative will combine sessions on governance, culture and the Federation’s economic landscape with island tours and heritage activities.
Officials explained that applications will be facilitated through organizations connected with St. Kitts and Nevis worldwide, though individuals not affiliated with an association may also apply directly. The government, alongside corporate sponsors, is expected to cover accommodation, meals and other programme-related expenses.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts by the Regional Integration and Diaspora Unit to strengthen ties with nationals abroad and encourage greater diaspora involvement in national development. Organizers describe the programme as an opportunity to create “ambassadors” for St. Kitts and Nevis across the globe. For more information, persons can dial 467-1144.
