Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis and current Chair of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew is set to formally hand over the 6 month rotating chairmanship of the regional bloc to St Lucia Prime Minister, Philip J. Pierre on July 1st, 2026.
The transition will form a central feature of the 51st Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government, where Caribbean leaders will gather for a series of high-level engagements on regional integration, economic development, security cooperation, and climate resilience.
The traditional Heads of Government retreat will follow the summit’s ceremonial opening on the evening of July 5th, with closed-door discussions scheduled for July 6th. The retreat is widely regarded as the most consequential segment of the summit, offering leaders a private forum for candid dialogue and consensus-building ahead of formal sessions.
For Saint Kitts and Nevis, the transition marks the conclusion of a brief but pivotal leadership role within CARICOM, as attention turns to continuity in regional priorities under incoming chairmanship. The summit’s remaining sessions will continue through July 8th.
