ALTA Online Project Officer, Dr. Deborah Thomas- Austin joined a delegation of education officials for site visits to St. Paul’s Primary School and Dean Glasford Primary School earlier this month, following a courtesy call on Minister of Education-St. Kitts, Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley.

The delegation comprised of Chief Education Officer, Mr. Francil Morris, Director of the Curriculum Development Unit, Mrs. Amanda Serrant-Edmead, Senior Education Officer, Mrs. Janelle Williams- Jacobs.

During the visits the team met with the school’s ALTA Online Mentors to gather direct feedback on the programme’s practical application, to determine overall effectiveness, and assess how well it resonates with student users. Discussions focused on the programme’s implementation in the classroom, student engagement levels, and opportunities for continued improvement.

The ALTA literacy programme was first piloted successfully in 2024 at the Violet Petty Primary School. Following positive results from the pilot phase the programme was formally expanded in 2025 to primary schools across the Federation, providing greater access to digital literacy for young learners.
