The stalled Airport Expansion Project at the Vance W. Amory International Airport is moving closer to construction after several delays.

Premier, Hon. Mark Brantley gave this update on the development during his monthly press conference on August 25^th, 2026:

The project is expected to take 18 months to complete.

It includes a 2,000-foot runway extension, bringing the runway to 6,000 feet, as well as a fuel farm, new fire hall, expanded and modernized terminal, new Customs Hall and an enlarged parking apron capable of accommodating up to 50 executive jets.

Previously, the Nevis Island Administration broke ground on the expansion and enhancement project on Wednesday, July 1^st, 2026.
