St. Kitts and Nevis’ National Colour Days will begin (today) Friday, August 28^th, 2026 where the general public is encourage to support the activity by wearing colours of the national flag. There are five (5) colours of the flag. The initiative will begin with the colour green which represents our fertile land.

Friday, September 4^th, the colour yellow which signifies our year-round sunshine will be recognized. Red which symbolizes our nation’s struggle for freedom from slavery through colonialism to independence will be worn on Friday September 11^th.

On Thursday, September 17^th, the colour white which means hope and liberty will be celebrated. The following day, (September 18^th), persons are asked to wear the five colours of the flag, as a pre-celebration, leading-up to Independence Day (September 19^th).

The activity will conclude on Friday, September 25^th with the colour black which stands for our African heritage.

The national flag was designed by Ms. Edris Lewis. This year the federation will celebrate 43 years of gaining independence from Britain.

The 2026 theme is: “One People, One Vision, Endless Possibility: Independence 43.”
