As of Sunday March 22^nd 2020, visits to Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) were suspended until further notice, according to a Police Communiqué.

This is also a precautionary measure, in light of the Coronavirus (CoVID-19).

It comes days after the police issued a release regarding the limits on visits to the prison.

Last week, a release from the police stated initially, “Starting Monday March 23rd, visits to the Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) will be limited to one person per inmate at a time between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays.”

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared that the Coronavirus is now a pandemic.

Cases of the virus have been recorded in Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Curaçao, the Dominican Republic, French Guiana, Montserrat, Barbados, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Martinique, St. Barthelemy, St. Lucia, St. Martin, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Puerto Rico, Suriname, Grenada, Dominica, Turks and Caicos Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Barbados, Jamaica and the US Virgin Islands.

Four persons in the Caribbean have died so far from the virus.
