The St. Kitts and Nevis National Reparations Committee is gathering support to seek justice for the victims of slavery.
Established in January 2020, the committee along with many others around the region is a part of the CARICOM movement on “the path to reconciliation and justice for victims of crimes against humanity and their descendants” according to caricom.org.
When asked about the benefits Europe received as a result of the enslavement of Africans, Member of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Reparations Committee, Mr. Loughlin Tatem, gave this response:

In 2013, CARICOM Heads of Government established the CARICOM Reparations Commission (CRC); with its mandate to prepare the case for reparatory justice for the Region’s indigenous and African descendant communities, who are victims of Crimes against Humanity (CAH) in the forms of genocide, slavery, slave trading and racial apartheid.
