On Monday, March 11th, 2025, a “Day of Interruption,” an Anti-Crime initiative, was held at all educational institutions on Nevis. Ministers, Community leaders, Law Enforcement Officers amongst others, visited various schools and gave presentations that promoted change to interrupt the cycle of crime and violence.
Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Minister of Education, Hon. Geoffrey Hanley, Nevis’ Minister of Education, Hon. Troy Liburd, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Latoya B. Jones, and Nevis’ Minister of Social Empowerment, the Hon. Jahnel Nisbett joined the initiative by visiting a number of students.

Additionally, the Hon. Troy Liburd stated this on social media, “I want to take this moment to encourage all our youths: to avoid the pitfalls of crime, steer clear of illicit drugs, and reject behaviors that could lead to a life of criminality, prison, or even untimely death. Together, we can build a safer and brighter future”.
This is the second year for the “Day of Interruption” initiative in the federation, the first was held on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, where similar activities took place at all the schools in St. Kitts.
