AG Byron says Health is a Primary concern here in SKN, amidst Coronavirus outbreak

That’s Chairman of the National Disaster Mitigation Council, Attorney General, the Hon. Vincent Byron Jr.

 

He was speaking at a press conference on Monday, February 3rd 2020, which was held to sensitize the nation about the Coronavirus.

 

Coronavirus is a respiratory virus. The death toll up to (today) February 4th, 2020 was 425, with more than 20,000 confirmed cases in 26 nations around the world.

 

423 people have died in China and one in Hong Kong.

 

One death has also been confirmed in the Philippines.

 

According to WHO.int, standard recommendations to prevent infection spread include: regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, thoroughly cooking meat and eggs.

 

AG Byron stated that measures have been taken to mitigate against the virus.

The Ministry of Health issued a travel advisory, urging citizens and residents to restrict travel to China until the World Health Organization (WHO) gives the all clear in relation to the Novel Coronavirus.

 

Persons travelling from China or who have travelled to another country from China within the last 14 days were asked to remain where they are and not to travel to St. Kitts and Nevis.
