April 9th 2023 is the new Bidding Date for production well drilling phase of Nevis’ geothermal project
Premier and Minister of Public Utilities and Energy (Nevis), announced that the bidding process for the Production Well Drilling phase of the island’s Geothermal project, has been extended and a new date was selected.
Dr. Hon. Mark Brantley explained this on March 28th:
To provide an insight into the project, Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) approved US$17 million in funding, in December 2022. The production drilling phase is set to begin in June 2023 and is anticipated to last six months. It will also be comprised of three production wells and two injection wells at Hamilton, Nevis.
The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) will begin the second phase of constructing a geothermal power plant with a capacity of 10 Megawatts once that drilling is successful.
