That was Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Dr. Terrance Drew, speaking during a recent activity under the Federal Government’s ASPIRE (Achieving Success through Personal Investment, Resources, and Education) Programme.

Students enrolled in ASPIRE gained hands-on banking experience on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026, during a savings account deposit exercise at the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank.

The activity allowed students to complete deposit slips, interact with bank tellers, make deposits into their accounts and review their balances, with support from parents and guardians.

Prime Minister Drew said the exercise was designed to turn financial literacy lessons into practical skills, while encouraging students to save, monitor their accounts and practice responsible money management.

Further, as part of the activity, Dr. Drew matched each student’s deposit up to EC$200.

The ASPIRE Programme provides eligible citizens aged 5 to 18 with an EC$1,000 contribution, divided between savings and investments in local companies, along with financial literacy education. Officials said more than 4,000 accounts have been opened, with over EC$4 million invested in young people’s futures.
