Lawmen have told the VONNEWSLINE that a fatal shooting incident occurred in McKnight, St. Kitts, on Monday evening March 27th.

The victim is 32-year-old Bernel Whyte also known as ‘BJ’ of Fort Thomas Road. Investigations thus far have revealed that Whyte was in the company of a female inside his motor vehicle P4850 on Central Street when he was ambushed by two masked gunmen who fired several shots at him and his female companion. He then exited the vehicle and ran through Central Fiennes Avenue but was chased by the masked men and was shot multiple times.

His female companion escaped in Whyte’s vehicle and drove to the Basseterre Police Station and reported the incident.

Police responded to the report and found Whyte’s motionless body in an alley between Central Fiennes and Upper Malone Avenue in McKnight.

He was pronounced dead by District Medical Officer, Dr. A. Oduntan around 10:30 p.m.

This latest homicide takes the Federation’s murder toll to 7 for 2023.

It is also the 2nd fatal shooting incident in a matter of days. A double homicide was recorded on Saturday Mar. 25th 2023.
