Businesses Urged to Meet Labelling Standards Ahead of National Compliance Deadline

The St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards (SKNBS) is reminding businesses to comply with national labelling requirements for packaged products ahead of the December 31, 2025 deadline. This effort aims to improve consumer safety, ensure transparency, high standards and promote fair trade across the Federation.

All packaged goods sold in St. Kitts and Nevis must be labelled in English clearly stating the product name, net weight or volume, ingredients (if applicable), storage instructions, manufacturer or distributor details, and usage or safety information.

Expiry or best-before dates are also mandatory. Products missing this information could be removed from shelves or face enforcement actions. In addition, all items must display accurate prices, either directly on the product or on the shelf label, to prevent confusion and ensure fair pricing.

Importers, manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers are asked to review their current packaging and labelling practices now to avoid penalties for non-compliance.

For more information on labelling requirements or to access support services, businesses are encouraged to contact the Bureau directly at 467-1498 or visit their official website at www.sknbs.org.
