Campaign against Gender Based Violence (GBV)

A 16 Day Campaign Against Gender Based Violence (GBV) will be held in the federation from November 25th to December 10th under the theme: “Push Forward, Invest to End Violence Against Women and Girls”.

 

Gender Officer in St. Kitts, Troynia (say troy-nya) Douglas told the VON Newsline, that they would mainly be doing a social media campaign where they would collect data and educate the public with quizzes, polls and surveys and intend to provide incentives to persons who participate.

 

Also, they would have a Pop – Up activity at 42nd Street, Sandy Point on from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. where persons can get insightful info on gender-based violence, outreach efforts, learn about resources available to persons such as legal aid, etc. from various representatives of the department and departments that work closely with them such as the Department of Child Probation Services.

 

Additionally, the VON Newsline spoke with Gender Officer in Nevis, Verna Grant who spoke about a rally that will take place in the streets of Charlestown where various groups will be show their support in ending gender – based violence. She stated, “We want the public to know that together we can show that there is strength in numbers and bring awareness to this critical issue and encourage meaningful action within our communities.”
